It is possible to make dinner for five dollars. And here’s how…
This week, I went to Acme. They’re having a dollar produce sale. I know you can’t really stock up on fresh vegetables, but you can make dinner for under five dollars easily.
I grabbed some cherry tomatoes, a bag of baby spinach, a red pepper, six cloves of garlic, and a bag of onions. That was just under five dollars. I also got some pasta for 88 cents. When you figure it out, it comes to about $4.78.
First, boil your salted water. Here’s the rest:
Red pepper flakes
Three cloves of garlic, sliced
Half onion, chopped
Red pepper, sliced
Bag of spinach, rinsed
Heat the olive oil in a skillet with the red pepper flakes. Add the onion and garlic, cook until everything is soft. Add the red pepper slices, add a little more oil. At the last minute, throw the spinach in and toss until it’s wilted. Salt and pepper to taste.
You’ll have dinner ready in a few minutes and it costs less than $5.00.
